Studies on molluscan diversity of Sina dam from Ahilyanagar district of Maharashtra in relation to fish culture

ABSTRACT

An ecosystem’s health is determined by the qualitative and variety of freshwater mollusc species, which constitute an essential biotic component. The current study on the variety of freshwater molluscs was carried out during June 2023 to May 2024at three distinct stations of Sina dam, Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra. The potential for aquatic molluscs in the area is very high. The current study was conducted to look into the variety, distribution, and significance of Sina dam freshwater Malacofauna.Species of freshwater molluscs, representing two different orders and four different families, were identified from our study sites. Photographs and dead Mollusc shell samples that were gathered from in Sina dam serve as the primary sources. The spatial distribution of freshwater mollusc diversity across three distinct stations within our research region is the primary focus of the current study. In the future, more thorough research on the ecology and distribution of freshwater molluscs would be conducted.

सारांश

एक इकोसिस्टम की हेल्थ मीठे पानी के मोलस्क स्पीशीज़ की क्वालिटी और वैरायटी से तय होती है, जो एक ज़रूरी बायोटिक हिस्सा हैं। मीठे पानी के मोलस्क की वैरायटी पर अभी की स्टडी जून 2023 से मई 2024 के दौरान महाराष्ट्र के अहिल्यानगर में सिना डैम के तीन अलग-अलग स्टेशनों पर की गई थी। इस इलाके में पानी में रहने वाले मोलस्क की संभावना बहुत ज़्यादा है। यह स्टडी सिना डैम के मीठे पानी के मैलाकोफौना की वैरायटी, डिस्ट्रीब्यूशन और अहमियत को देखने के लिए की गई थी। हमारी स्टडी साइट्स से मीठे पानी के मोलस्क की स्पीशीज़ की पहचान की गई, जो दो अलग-अलग ऑर्डर और चार अलग-अलग फैमिली को दिखाती हैं। सिना डैम से इकट्ठा की गई तस्वीरें और मरे हुए मोलस्क के खोल के सैंपल मुख्य सोर्स हैं। हमारे रिसर्च इलाके में तीन अलग-अलग स्टेशनों पर मीठे पानी के मोलस्क की वैरायटी का जगह के हिसाब से डिस्ट्रीब्यूशन अभी की स्टडी का मुख्य फोकस है। भविष्य में, मीठे पानी के मोलस्क की इकोलॉजी और डिस्ट्रीब्यूशन पर और गहरी रिसर्च की जाएगी।
